ACTION LAB: MARA RIVER, ROMANIA

EcoLogic Association: a local NGO for nature conservation, sustainable rural development is the Actionlab coordinator in Romania and has an extended role in all project packages.

• WP1 - project management: project planning, monitoring and evaluation; project communication and reporting; information and data management; multi-actor stakeholder management
• WP2- water governance: developing a framework and analysing water governance systems in our case study area, contribution to cross cutting analysis of case study water governance
• WP3 Participatory monitoring - Collection of the existing water quality monitoring data; harmonisation of water quality data for inclusion in the case study collaborative tool; design and implementation of additional, targeted participatory monitoring campaigns; extract lessons learnt from extending participatory monitoring practices
• WP4 - best management practices: collecting information on mitigation measures and best management practices already applied within our pilot catchment; comparison of mitigation measures and Best Management Practices applied in various pilot studies; contributions for identification of recommendations to target new water governance strategies; identification of weaknesses of current legislative and organisational set ups inhibiting the successful implementation of mitigation measures and BMPs
• WP5- collaborative management tools: define case specific user needs towards the collaborative management tool; functional analysis and design of the software; deliver harmonised data in an interactive water quality viewer; model and technical development
• WP6 - upscaling cases to cover other EU regions: contribution for developing a roadmap for success based on case study results; facilitate the uptake of project findings in other areas 
• WP7 - Integrated policy support: analysis of key driving factors and regulatory frameworks
• WP8 - Strategic dissemination and communication: contribution for developing the  Waterprotect project website, social media pages; dissemination tools and activities; organisation of Waterprotect events

The Technical University Cluj Napoca plays a role in:

Romanian Waters – Regional Water Management Unit – input in design of Waterprotect RO management tool, provide information on water quality in target area, provide data on water management systems in Romania and specifically Maramures, participation in major project events and meetings
